Approximate measurements: 8cm height x 10cm width, 14cm incl. handle. 295ml.
Mike’s cups are full of character, the texture is satin, soft and smooth to touch, with subtle interest in detail and colour.
Wide bellied form with a subtle angular base and unglazed thin foot. Colour gradients from light to dark, the glaze applied just enough to see the darker slip underneath creating a nice contrast. With particular details of dotted motif made by using an Ash bud to indent the clay creating a variation of colour across the surface. Also neat wave pattern has been made around the base. Full of great little touches making it real pleasure to hold and enjoy your tea from. It’s simplistic traditional style, understated, soon to become your new favourite cup.
Each handmade and unique, therefore slight variations in shape, size and glaze will occur. Handwash recommended.
Mike Parry produces a variety of functional slipware using red earthenware clay, creating work that has a real down to earth character informed by the traditional ceramic practices of the area. All produced from his home studio in Southeast Wales.
