Approximate measurements: 8cm height x 12cm width. 450ml
Clay: Stoneware / Creme
Glaze: Ash Glaze & Black
A satisfyingly bold Chawan, skilfully made, with great attention to detail. Crafted using a creme stoneware clay with an ash glaze that creates simplistic and calming tones of speckled and burnt orangey browns, olive greens and rustic cremes. Setting off the bold black flashes and dots applied with playful energy. the overall lighter creme colour will elevate the fresh brightness of the Matcha.
The underside of the chawan, resting on its shallow foot is left unglazed with the creme stoneware showing, offering a subtle contrast to the glaze and surface. Its proportions are great with a good depth and comfortably rests in the hands.
Karina is based in Lower Saxony, Germany.
Her works are based on the symbiosis of perfection and imperfection of nature, inspired by classic Japanese teaware forms, created with the aesthetics and spirit of wabi sabi flowing through them, celebrating the balance, depth and understated beauty that these ideals encapsulate.
Her process is one of total creative absorption and connection to the medium, experiencing and embracing the creative process with the spontaneous energy and freedom of form that reveals itself, ever searching for beauty, aesthetic satisfaction and functionality.
Each handmade and unique, therefore slight variations in shape, size and glaze will occur. Handwash recommended.
