Hand Thrown in Wales
Approximate measurements 6cm height x 9.5cm width (13cm incl. handle). 230ml

A neat little tea cup with plenty of textural interest and bright interior glaze. A quality stoneware cup made of Cornish clay. With a brushed zig~zag pattern running around the body applied using a metal oxide slip. The cup has a good earthy feeling to it, perhaps because of the clay is left unglazed giving a textured surface full of granular flecks and fine particulates. The interior is a great contrast to this, glazed with a blue grey ash giving a satin shine and fine crackle. Good weight and proportion, the traditional style ridged handle, a joy to hold.

Each handmade and unique, therefore slight variations in shape, size and glaze will occur. Handwash recommended.

Jack Welbourne produces an array of hand thrown stoneware tableware, following traditional techniques and principles fused with Eastern ideas and approaches made popular by Bernard Leach. From this Jack achieves a unique and contemporary style by way of his mark making, application and overall form. Creating work with an individual energy that enriches its functional use.
In 2017 Jack set up One Wall Studio, all work is produced from his studio there.
