This tea is organically grown!

An elegant and aromatic delight. This first flush has a mix of moss green and woody leaves with silvery downy buds and vibrant green leaves throughout. Giving full floral aromas, the tea soup is a clean golden hue thatā€™s full bodied and distinct with a smooth mouthfeel. Bright and fresh, the palate welcomes fresh and a sweet fruity flavour, with a pleasant touch of earthiness balancing, high florals and smooth buttery notes that are long lasting.

Harvested in early Spring, picked and processed with great skill and care following natural growing practices with awareness of the biodiverse surroundings.

Soureneeā€™s name is of two parts, Sour - a medicinal tree native to the area, and Rani - meaning 100 Queens.

The estate was established in 1902 by the Tiwari family of Kurseong, local merchants who received 1100 acres of land in the Mirik valley as settlement of debts from the original Nepali owner. Ramlall Tiwari then began planting tea bushes to later become Sourenee Tea Estate. Since 2007 Sourenee Leaves now manages the estate.

Sourenee is a high elevation estate at between 2500ft to 5000ft with a boundary of 137 hectares of which 99 are planted for tea cultivation within a biodiverse environment. The garden was awarded organic certification in 2009 having had natural growing approaches and processes for many years now.
