A high quality Hibiscus with large flower calyces, beautifully sculptural bright red calyces giving gentle citrus aromas. A rich and deep red infusion with a very fruity flavours due to fast sun drying after picking and a cranberry like tartness, classic for Hibiscus, this sour touch is attributed to rich malic acid being present. It can be enjoyed hot or cold, or used as a culinary ingredient or preserves.
Grown in the highland of western Yunnan, at an elevation of 1800m. Growing with wild and natural surroundings benefitting from a clean, natural environment, with a balanced temperature and an abundance of sunlight. These quality conditions result in deeper flavours, thicker petals and larger flower heads, compared to those grown in coastal locations in other regions. The calyces are harvested in Oct’21, picking, sorted and dried with great care.
Hibiscus, also know as roselle is a member of the Malvaceae family. Hibiscus is one of the ancient herbs used for culinary and medicinal uses being rich in Vitamin C, Protein, Malic acid, Polysaccharide, iron and sodium.
