Moorland Chawan // By Raphaela Seck
Hand Thrown in Devon
Approximate measuements: 12cm width x 6cm height. 450ml.
A most beautiful Chawan inspired by the rugged Dartmoor landscape. A footed wide bowl form with an organic flow and ‘wabi sabi’ thin lip with an undulating yet smooth shiny texture, forest greens, jades and yellow ochre blend and drip artistically rising to rich browns at the lip. Inside the bowl is the most amazing cascade of moorland colours all combining to great effect with a central yellow ochre stroke. Finished with a contrasting unglazed stoneware base.
Raphaela is a Devon based ceramicist, working from her home studio creating functional and beautiful, handthrown pieces from porcelain/stoneware speckled clay and a variety of vibrant glazes.
Each handmade and unique, therefore slight variations in shape, size and glaze will occur. Handwash recommended.
