Gaiwan 10.5cm height x 10.5cm width 200ml
(Tea Bowls and Jug available separately)
A stunningly beautiful Gaiwan that’s most pleasing on the eye with its delicate balance of calming colour and simplistic form. Similar in style to a Japanese Shiboridashi or ‘easy’ Gaiwan. Expertly shaped gradual flare with an elegant higher profile form crafted from Cornish clay with a Shino glaze.
Stone greys and pale blues blend with a notable amount of glassy turquoise within the fine crackle. Very intricate finer details, flecks and particulates on the surface. A smooth orange peel like texture with glossy shine with a bold stroke motif of bluish iron wash contrasting perfectly against the soft granite greys. The underside of the lid and base showing a burst of purple and copper tone.
Holding comfortably in the hand with great proportion, balance and pouring action. Ideal for brewing Green teas, especially Monkey King with adequate space for the leaves to move freely.
Popalini & Jezando are a collaborative creative force, with a studio on the Devon/Cornwall border, North Devon. Creating functional hand thrown stoneware pieces that are both contemporary yet steeped in ancient traditions of the area.
Handmade and unique, Handwash recommended.
