Hand Thrown in Devon
Approximate measurements 16cm height incl. handle x 14cm width.
A stunning stoneware shino teapot with hand formed aged iron handle. Nearly egg shaped form created with great skill and care, beautifully balanced proportions, form and pour.
Cornish clay with a shino glaze that’s been wood fired with soda creating a unique surface and texture. Stone greys and pale blues blend under the glassy crackle of the surface. One that has a smooth orange peel like texture and soft satin shine. Subtle orange flecks and fine particulates decorate the surface, base and rim. Finished with their signature single hole tapered spout, deep walled lid and tactile rounded aged iron handle, its dark tones set off the teapot perfectly giving it a real elemental feel and quality to enjoy.
Popalini & Jezando are a collaborative creative force, with a studio on the Devon/Cornwall border, North Devon. Creating functional hand thrown stoneware pieces that are both contemporary yet steeped in ancient traditions of the area.
One off piece. Handwash recommended.
