Soda Fired Teabowl by Popalini & Jezando
Hand Thrown in Devon
4.5cm height x 7.5cm width 120ml
Wood fired unglazed Cornish stoneware. A low tapered form that’s amazing, holding perfectly with thumb and two fingers. Beautiful wide base finished with a subtle foot ring, ascending to a fine lip. These teabowls have remained unglazed until the firing, where during, soda has been applied. This simplistic combination has created this most immense colouration and textural quality, the intricate depth of colour, texture and tone is incredible. A band of copper tone wraps around the body of the cup with a metallic shine both outside and in. Together with mottled sways of granite like greens and smokey blacks around the base and lip. Inside, a glassy bluish green crackle shines from the bottom of the cup. An orange peel like texture and many finer granular corrugations and flecks makes this tea bowl have a somewhat cosmic appearance. An absolute beauty!
Each handmade and unique, therefore slight variations in shape, size and glaze will occur. Handwash recommended.
