Tumbler (1) by Jack Worpole
Hand Thrown in Cornwall
Approximate measurements: 8.5cm height x 8.5cm width. 200ml.

A stunning little faceted tumbler, the perfect size to fit in the hand, so comfortable to hold with a gentle granular feel.

The raw clay surface has taken on flame flashes and fly ash from the firing creating a warm orange tone with areas of mottling and soft shine. The freely carved faceted sides are very tactile and really catch the light. A band of smooth celadon around the top and inside providing an excellent contrast of colours. Also a nice little linear detail on the base that’s very tactile when holding.

Skilfully and carefully crafted from stoneware Cornish clay with excellent form and proportions.

Each handmade and unique, therefore slight variations in shape, size and glaze will occur. Handwash recommended.

Jack Worpole is a self taught ceramicist based at Chy Gwynn Pottery in Cusgarne, Cornwall. Producing stoneware works from gas firing and wood firing. Recently firing with fellow Ceramicist, John Mackenzie using an Anagama kiln. that takes a lengthy firing time of 40 - 50 hours fuelled by local pine wood, creating some amazing and truly unique effects from this intense process.
