Tumbler (2) by Jack Worpole
Hand Thrown in Cornwall
Approximate measurements: 11cm height x 8.5cm width. 300ml.

This faceted tumbler is so comfortable to hold with a gentle granular feel and great textural detail.

The raw clay surface has taken on flame flashes and fly ash from the firing giving it a more rugged tone and character, stone greys and mottled ash, some nice flashes of orange. The celadon glaze  too, a darker greyish green with fine glassy crackle. Very tactile feel with freely carved faceted sides, highlighted when caught by the light. Also a nice little linear detail on the base that’s very tactile when holding.

Skilfully and carefully crafted from stoneware Cornish clay with excellent form, balanced weight and proportions.

Each handmade and unique, therefore slight variations in shape, size and glaze will occur. Handwash recommended.

Jack Worpole is a self taught ceramicist based at Chy Gwynn Pottery in Cusgarne, Cornwall. Producing stoneware works from gas firing and wood firing. Recently firing with fellow Ceramicist, John Mackenzie using an Anagama kiln. that takes a lengthy firing time of 40 - 50 hours fuelled by local pine wood, creating some amazing and truly unique effects from this intense process.
