Hand Thrown in Devon
Approximate measurements: 10cm height (not incl. handle) x 10cm width. 360ml
Raw, unglazed teapot, woodfired in the anagama kiln at Kigbeare, Devon. Created from Cornish clay and skilfully formed with a balance of weight, proportion and a humble, unstated beauty.
This classic form is complimented a hand formed brass arched handle, fine lid with carved finial and compact single hole spout that pours excellently, together creating the perfect profile. The unglazed surface is full of character with granular textural qualities, earthy reddish copper tones and subtle shine. The unglazed interior allows for a level of patina to develop as the clay interacts with tea oils, to enhance depth and flavour of future brews.
Popalini & Jezando are a collaborative creative force, with a studio on the Devon/Cornwall border, North Devon. Creating functional hand thrown stoneware pieces that are both contemporary yet steeped in ancient traditions of the area.
One off piece. Handwash recommended.
