As we step into the Spring season, we present our first collection of 2022。
Especially curated to introduce new makers with vessels from ceramicists Jack Welbourne and Mike Parry, alongside unique brass accessories from Rebecca Rasmussen and exciting new works from Popalini & Jez Ando and Charlie Collier。
Paired with a fresh focus on white teas and the return of our Single Origin Tea tasting selections。
The House of Hope & Mercy in the Jungle is an independent specialist Tea Boutique based in the heart of Exeter's indie quarter at McCoys Arcade. A sustainable two person operation ethically sourcing extraordinary leaves from across the globe。
Our curated collection features some of the finest single origin Tea on the planet, our own small batch artisan blends and unique teawares handmade by skilled makers。
Tea is our passion. The diversity and culture of Tea - intrinsically linked to the environment and imbedded in every society, our life's work is to learn, and to build, and to share the wonders of Tea with you。
The origin of our leaves is everything。
Working direct with experienced independent tea growers, small co-ops and specialists who have generations of knowledge and skill and means we can offer a truly diverse and unique collection of teas。
We take time to get to know the provenance, the cultivar, process, season and quality of each tea we select to build a collection that is varied, yet balanced across each tea discipline。
Over the last 9.5 years we have developed our own recipes for 7 of our most loved British favourites。
Carefully selected large leaves and balanced natural flavours create whole leaf blends of your classic essential brews。
We blend everything ourselves by hand and in small batches here at our Devon studio。
Functional and beautiful objects to enhance your tea experience。
We seek out and work with makers who take the time to create and develop their practice with the understanding that their choice of clay, or glaze, or shapes and sizes, the methods and processes they each choose brings with it a quality greater than the basic function of any single object。
Each time you hold, and use a cup or teapot created for you by the experienced hands and mind of a skilled maker it is a moment of connection bringing you back to the essential elements of life。
