An exquisite chawan with a very pleasing form, masterfully crafted with great care and consideration, perfect balance of weight and proportion, holding comfortably in the hand. Crafted from stoneware clay, gas-fired with a Celadon glaze, to create a clean and bright appearance with fine crackles within the glazed surface. Jacob has recently been on a hiatus, but he is gradually returning to his craft, these are pieces are part of his legacy collection.
Handmade and unique. Handwash recommended.
Jacob Bodilly is a Mid Devon based potter that has been working in Ceramics for over 20 years with previous residences spent at Leach Pottery and Boscean Pottery in Cornwall. Establishing his personal studio based in the peaceful, secluded countryside near the Devon/Somerset border since 2014. From there, he creates highly skilled pieces with the utmost care and dedication to the craft. Drawing from traditional eastern styles, methods and philosophy and also informed by his personal love of Puerh, Oolong and Dark teas. Working with selected local clays and creating unique glazes often celadon and also on occasion, porcelain. Creating very fine contemporary teawares striving for a timeless beauty.
