This tea is organically grown!
A ball rolled green tea opening up to reveal deliciously fresh, tender large leaves. Pure & clean quality tea soup with a high clarity. Softly vegetal flavours, vibrant & balanced, which is good through many infusions.
A rarity for Alishan as Taiwan produces very small amounts of green tea, primarily in Sanxia District, Southwest New Taipei City. In the 1920’s Alishan was the first high mountain region where tea was planted as an experiment to see how elevation would affect the finished tea.
Grown and processed in Xiding village, one of the famous tea producing areas for Alishan tea with an elevation of 1,250m above sea level, the tea leaves here grow extra slowly, shrouded in cloud mist all year, with an average temperature below 20ºc which lets more complex chemical compounds to develop & in turn creates a sweeter flavours & higher aromas + higher levels of L-theanine.
This tea is a hand picked harvest in Spring from the Qing Xin (Green Heart) cultivar. The leaves have then undergone processing in the ball rolled style, following traditional techniques by Tea Masters Huang & Wang, creating a very small batch green tea.
We found this tea at the very end of our R&D trip to Taiwan (April’25), having not encountered and green tea during our travels, it was a refreshing surprise & seemed to embody the essence of spring as the 2025 harvest season had just begun.
