Approximate measurements: 6.5cm H x 8.5cm ø, 160ml
This delightful stoneware footed teabowl, gently flaring body with an angular cut at the base descending to the foot giving this bowl a classic form, somewhat reminiscent of a Chawan, a slight bellied wall ascending to a flick out at the lip. The granular texture of the natural clay adds to the textural quality of the surface together with the smooth ash & celadon glaze. Fresh blue tones of glaze overlayed create a drippy, painterly feel. Applied thinly around the body showing off the turns of the bowl with complementary white tones, iron blasts and fine glassy crackle.
Anja is an East Devon based Ceramicist working with clay since 2012, going under the moniker of Streetdog Pottery with a studio in Colyton, producing a variety of porcelain and stoneware vessels and teaware.
Anja’s work leans into the organic creative process celebrating the energy and movement within these simplistic forms. Experimenting with the nature of a wide variety of clays from Porcelain to Sculptural clays, Anja enjoys manipulating the clay body to it’s limits, drawing the clay thinly to rips and tears. whilst also favouring natural and aging patinas, Anja makes her own Celadon glazes and Ash recipes, burnt from different trees and plants, and explores different techniques to achieve this effect on the surface of the form through a combination of glazes application and mark making.
Each handmade and unique, therefore slight variations in shape, size and glaze will occur. Handwash recommended.
