Out of the fog comes our Russian Caravan Blend. A hearty whole leaf blend of OP African & Chinese Black teas evoking a strong & malty depth with a classic flourish of smoke.

Russian Caravan Blends are created to evoke the dark & smoky character of teas that were carried by camel caravans along the famous 6000 mile Tea Road from China to Moscow on their way to Europe in the 18th century; the smokiness aquired from the campfires during the 6 month journey.

It’s often popular to call this type of tea a ‘Fog’ in reference to its touch of smoke, in our case we attribute this fog to San Lorenzo as the fictitional location of our namesake The House of Hope & Mercy in the Jungle in Vonegut‘s book Cat’s Cradle.

Over the last 10 years we have developed our own recipes for 7 of the most loved British favourites, carefully selecting large leaves + balancing natural flavours to create fine whole leaf artisan blends of classic essential brews.

Our small collection of classic House Blends are all hand blended in super small batches, by just the two of us at our tiny tea boutique in Devon.
