Headed by 25th generation Master Craftman Yasaburo Tanimura.
A pack of three fine Susutake (soot coloured) Wagashi Pick, skilfully hand crafted with great care. Made to enjoy your Wagashi (Japanese soft sweet) that accompanies the Matcha, whether mochi or nerikiri, these will elevate your tea experience perfectly. An essential addition for ceremony practice crafted to the utmost quality that will give you great joy and longevity in use.
Each Wagashi Pick is handcrafted and unique, created using 100% natural authentic Japanese bamboo. Following traditional knowledge and techniques from ancient times.
Made from seasoned bamboo, that has been taken from traditional Japanese thatched houses. The unique colour has naturally occurred over hundreds of years, enhanced by smoke from the hearth. The soot coloured bamboo is repurposed to create beautiful objects for tea ceremony, this style of bamboo is becoming a real rarity.
Almost all of Japan's tea whisk production is done in Takayama, Nara.
Takayama has a long history of Chasen and tea ceremony utensil production going back to the Muromachi period (1333-1568). This is impart due to the natural alpine climate being so beneficial to Chasen making & Bamboo production.
Each Wagashi Pick is natural, handmade and unique, therefore slight variations in shape, size and finish will occur.
