Woodfired Shino Shiboridashi by Linda Unsworth
Hand Thrown in Pembrokeshire, Wales
Approximate measurements: 10cm H x 11cm ø, 200ml

A delightful woodfired stoneware Shiboridashi with a taller, crucible like form. Glazed with shino giving it a rich peachy orange tone and bright feel, as well as silvery grey splashes in the glaze that create some motion. All contrasting with the gently toasted tone of the raw clay of the foot and around the inner lip. The surface is full of complex granite inclusions and flyash creating an interesting natural speckling, it has a soft shine and smooth feel making the vessel easy to handle and an absolute joy to use.

We have 4 available. Each handmade and unique, therefore slight variations in shape, size will occur. Handwash recommended.

1 ~ Shows the rich and deep tones and quality of the shino byway of a particularly generous glazing.
2 ~ Has a delicate balance of tonal shino gradient on the surface with fine crackle and a deep tone to the shino liner inside.
3 ~ Enjoys light peachy tones with a particularly dramatic silvery grey stroke on the surface, inside is a pale glazing which will enhance the vibrant colour of the tea brewing.
4 ~ Soft gradients of tone across the surface and inside which will enhance the vibrant colour of the tea brewing. It has some nice details like the subtle fine crackle and the flyash speckling on the lid.

Based in North Pembrokeshire, producing work from her home studio. Linda is a self taught potter, who enjoys the meditative experience that’s created by working with such natural elements as raw clay, glazes and the rhythm of her momentum wheel. Producing beautiful wood fired ceramics that really highlight this long process leaving visible traces of flame flashes and fly ash on her pots. Her approach to the form and style of her work is inspired by her natural surroundings and informed by Eastern aesthetics through traditional Japanese & Korean pottery and philosophy and her love of tea drinking.
